Terms of Use and Store Policy:
By using and purchasing through this site, you automatically acknowledge and agree to our terms and policies.
US CUSTOMER SHIPPING INFORMATION: Due to the variations in item size and weight, shipping costs are figured individually. As we are usually able to mail flat rate, this will create some shipping overages. However, we will always pack items in the most reasonable and least expensive way possible. Orders weighing 15 oz or less will be mailed First Class only unless the items are too bulky OR other arrangements have been made. We charge a handling fee per package. Any shipping cost above the additional handling fee will be refunded. Packages with a value of 90.01 and up will require additional insurance and a signature confirmation. You may waive this fee and ask for this to be refunded to you. However, you must accept full responsibility if something detrimental happens to the package. We will not refund or replace your purchase.
USPS Priority Mail is a trackable service, but can be sketchy at best. BE AWARE OF YOUR LOCATION: If the tracking shows your package delivered and you claim you did not receive your package, we cannot file a claim with the USPS. As a result, we will not be able to refund or replace your purchase. If you have any concerns whatsoever, please contact me and we will require a signature delivery for your order, no matter the amount of the order. This may require an additional payment.
FPO/APO: We are happy to ship packages to our service members and their families overseas.
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMER SHIPPING INFORMATION: Please be aware that your package will ship USPS Priority Mail only unless you contact us and make arrangements otherwise. This service does not have guaranteed tracking and insurance outside of the United States. By shipping this method, you agree that Missouri River Soap is not responsible for your package at any time after it reaches US Customs. No refunds will be given for a lost or damaged package as we have no recourse ourselves to file a claim. BE AWARE OF YOUR LOCATION: No refunds or replacements will be given if you claim you did not receive your package but any tracking that is available shows that you did. Missouri River Soap is not responsible for any fees incurred by Customs. If you have any concerns about these requirements whatsoever, please contact me and we can arrange an alternate form of shipment. This may require an additional payment.
Please understand that we are a small hobby business and cannot be responsible for packages that are shown delivered but go missing. The above information is not to just remove ourselves from liability but is the result of the fact that we also have no recourse to resolve the situation financially. Production at our level is very costly and the time and effort we put into the business is also very valuable. We will do anything in our power to resolve any and all situations and work on your behalf with the USPS to resolve any situations that may arise.
Not all soaps are created equally. Our soaps are handcrafted and hand cut. Weights will vary from bar to bar and batch to batch. That is the nature of a handmade product. Most of our soaps will range from 5 ounces to 7.5 ounces with the exception of the ‘Nearly Natural’ category of soaps which will range from 4 ounces to 6 ounces. Most of the ‘Nearly Natural’ soaps will contain added luxurious ingredients which increases the cost per soap. For simplicity, our prices are based upon lowest bar weight per batch. Any soap weighing more is merely a bonus for the price paid.
Refunds will be determined on an individual basis. Please keep in mind that every nose is different and scents may be perceived differently per person. We do our best to describe the scents based upon the fragrance and essential oils that are used and descriptions given from the manufacturers. No refunds will be given based on scent. Also note that even unfragranced soap will have a slight scent due to ingredients used. No added fragrance or essential oils are added to the unfragranced soaps. On occasion, an unfragranced soap bar may absorb scent based on the soap surrounding it on the curing rack. We develop our recipes based on what works for our dry/sensitive skin, our family’s skin, and what works in our water. Not only do all people have different skin types but we also use different water (soft, hard, etc.). Both factors will affect how our handcrafted soap (designed to be more luxurious for the skin instead of just cleansing) will bubble and suds and also affect how our skin feels after use. Our soaps have been tested by many different people in many different regions with great results.
Absolutely NO RETURNS due to the fact that soap is a personal product and even unopened, we choose not to resell the product since it has been out of our supervision.
Orders cannot be cancelled once they have been shipped.
We reserve the right to cancel any unshipped order.
We do not take pre-orders or special orders at this time. For a quality product, it is our policy to sell our soaps only once cured. While it may be that a well-made cold process soap can be ready to use nearly immediately, a really luxurious soap is well aged, like a fine wine. For this reason, we allow our soaps a reasonably long cure before selling. For additional quality purposes, we test a sample of each batch before that batch is listed for sale. Some soap batches need a longer cure time than others.
The Ingredients We Use:
We use olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, cocoa butter, and palm oil in our regular line of soaps. The soaps may also contain avocado oil, shea butter, kokum butter. All soaps contain sodium hydroxide (lye). However, the sodium hydroxide is neutralized in the saponification process. Soap cannot be made without sodium hydroxide. Most of our soaps contain decadent cow’s cream but may also be made with coconut milk, goat milk, buttermilk, tea, coffee, beer, or rum. We use sodium lactate in our soaps which helps to produce a harder, longer lasting soap bar. We scent our soaps with fragrance oils or essential oils. Please use caution whenever using a body product containing essential oils. Be informed and know what essential oils may affect your body and medical issues. We use essential oils for scent only. We use the standard amount of fragrance and essential oils in our recipes. Strength of scent after cure will vary so some soaps will have a lighter or stronger scent than others. We color our soaps using micas, oxides, pigments, natural herbal colorants, and titanium dioxide which is a naturally occurring whitening agent. Some colorants will ‘bleed’ some of their color. This is normal. Most likely our soaps will be topped with cosmetic glitter. We also top our soap with natural ingredients on occasion. All toppings typically wash off with the first use.
Tips For Use:
Store packaged soap in a cool, dry area.
When not in use, please keep the soaps out of the direct stream of water, or a pool of water, to allow them to dry between uses. This will help the bars to last longer and not become water-logged. Handcrafted soaps contain glycerin which is a humectant and is a natural by-product of making cold or hot process soap. It will naturally try to hold on to water. Fun Fact: The naturally occurring glycerin is removed from the commercial soaps (a.k.a detergents) that you can find at the store. This is one of many reasons why handcrafted soap is a luxurious product.
